Speaker Bio:
Dr. Saqib Riaz is Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad, Pakistan. He is eminent media scholar of Pakistan. He has recently joined Indiana University Bloomington as Post Doctorate scholar. Dr. Saqib did his Masters in Mass communication from Punjab University Lahore in 1992 and PhD in Mass Communication from AIOU Islamabad in 2004. In 2005 he received higher education of Journalism and Mass Communication from the International Institute for Journalism, (IIJ) Berlin, Germany. He has been associated with a couple of Islamabad based national newspapers as a senior journalist. He is author of three books on Journalism and media studies. His latest book “Agenda Setting Role of Media in Pakistan” has been published by Lambert Academic Publishers Germany and is available on amazon.com. He has achieved a number of awards and honors during his professional career. He is a Free Lance journalist and contributes articles to national and international newspapers. Dr. Saqib has published three dozen research articles in international research journals. Some of his research articles have been included in the curriculum of universities in Pakistan. Some of the leading organizations of the country invite him as media expert in their meetings regarding media matters. Dr. Saqib has the honor to represent his country in International Media Conference held in Germany in March 2010. He is member of the Boards of Studies of different universities of the country.
